Flower Friday ~ Monster pink beauty!
13Friday 20 November, 2015 by Uncle Spike
As per usual for me, I have no idea what this is 🙂
It looks like a whopping big rose, but upon closer inspection, it is multiple-headed, if that’s the right term (?), and grown on a tall shrub well over head height. Any clues welcome as always. I know I could Google it, but you guys are friendlier!

You can see the size of it compared to my hand!

So beautiful …

What a beauty! I don’t know its name either, but it doesn’t matter, does it? Nameless, it is still gorgeous.

Looks like hibiscus to me too!

We have these I think already, but are small flowers. These are huge, as big as an outstretched hand some were, and sort of had a flower at every angle, almost like an octahedron.

Hibiscus maybe? Do the flowers only last a day? The buds and leaves look a lot like a hibiscus in my yard. Some are perennial bushes.

Not sure – we only saw it for a day.

I think this is rose of Sharon – chiffon variety – not sure but it is very close to the ones I grow – and they are on tall shrubs – 🌸🌸☺️

Yes, well over head height, and with large almost fig-like leaves.

I was remembering that “first” marriage of yours the other day. It was a story you wrote. One of your adventures as a child, with your best friend and “wife” Lol. I think you guys blew up and old RV trailer on accident. Anyway, I was telling my husband how funny I thought you were and sharing your current blogs with him and I remembered the story.
Just thought I’d share.
Beautiful flowers btw!

Haha, yes, one of my childhood shares 🙂

That is beautiful and you are right – I don’t think it is a Rose. The leaves are wrong for a Rose, or a Camelia, but I have no idea either. Must remember to check back to see what it is.

I’m about as good as you, identifying plants. Here’s hoping someone with a horticultural bent wanders by. They’re pretty, anyhow.
