Turkish Political breakfast

In Turkey, we have an endless love with breakfast, eating outdoors, domestic politics, meetings and/or marches, and of course, generating noise 🙂

In this shot, taken early one weekday morning in the western Turkish city of Izmir, we came across a political breakfast/rally. Seriously, the street was blocked by forty chairs, with folk sat at tables scoffin’ a hearty (free) breakfast to fill their bellies, whilst a politician stood there with a mic and attempted to fill their minds in a rather loud and paternalistic voice – all par for the course for our Turkish politicians.

One of the bizarre and wonderful things that makes Turkey, well… Turkey.

P.S. The old chap with the cane and bag obviously wasn’t invited, or at least not at all interested by the looks of it.
