Macro Monday: Locust

7

Monday 21 September, 2015 by Uncle Spike

Locusts are regular visitors to our farm; not on any biblical scale, but just enough for the chickens to chase, and for us to photograph. On that note, here’s one that was found outside the front door last week.

They’re pests, but they surely are well built little machines!

Not a favourite with South Australians. Every few years we seem to have a plague of locusts. However, I must admit that it’s been a while since we had locusts in plague proportions, something for which the farmers are most thankful. Mind you, we did have a mouse plague in the mid north of the state a year or so ago.
