An Englishman at heart?

This tune I love takes me back to two memorable periods in my life….
Way back when, together with some friends we rented a mansion in central England where a certain Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner once lived (or rented too for a short time I think). Anyway, it was a pretty cool place to live for a couple of months in the 80s 🙂
Flash forward twenty odd years and through bereavement I found myself suddenly thrust back into that strange game called ‘dating’, but by now I was resident of Türkiye. One of the last concerts I have been to was held in Beşiktaş, on the European side of the Bosphorus, in Istanbul, by that very same chap, Sting.
.
.
Now, Sting is probably the all-time fave of my intended (there’s even a poster behind where I am sat as I type this)…, so as you can imagine, at this concert, one had to be seen to ‘get into it’, and as I recall, along with this very track, some bewildered Istanbulites witnessed my appalling backing vocals as I blasted out:
“I’m an Englishman in Beşiktaş!”
Can’t have been too bad – still together 🙂
.
.
Glad you found your place!

You gave me a chuckle! And, like you said, it must not have been too bad.
