Chariots of Fire and a Double-Date
6Friday 28 August, 2015 by Uncle Spike
This one takes me back to not just an era, but to a particular day even. It was the year 1981, and I was out on a double date, having all of us traveled 15 miles (24km) by train to the ‘city’.
We’d gone to catch a double bill of Gregory’s Girl, starring Gordon John Sinclair and Dee Hepburn, and Chariot’s of Fire, starring Ben Cross and Ian Charleson – hence this week’s choice for those Tunes I Love.

Both films were pretty good, although Chariots of Fire was very powerful indeed, portraying the lives of Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell. All in all it was a great weekend; certainly a great gal too as I all too happily recall 🙂

Good films they were 🙂

I too remember going to the theater to see that movie… it was so good! And I love that theme song! I really enjoy the video that you shared… it is really cool seeing him playing the various instruments as he watches the movie. Thanks for sharing the memories.

Chariots of Fire is a family favourite of ours, too. I wasn’t around when it was showing in cinemas, but I do remember watching it on VHS as a kid! Powerful is a good word to describe it 🙂

🙂 I loved Chariots of Fire – and the music. Well – Vangelis, what else can you expect but something exceptional?
HAPPY weekend to you! 🙂
