Remembering a departed blogger
13Thursday 16 July, 2015 by Uncle Spike
Today would have been Rhonda Elkins’ birthday
Sadly Rhonda is no longer with us
But friends who met through her blog haven’t forgotten
Nor have the many people she helped through her work. Thankfully there are those who are still spreading her message in the medical world, as in this recent article
Medical student suicide: Its impact is devastating. This case proves it
Rest now.

How terribly sad about Rhonda. I remember reading her blog when I was surfing around looking for anyone who had been through what I was going through yet again. Somehow I did not know that Rhonda had died, too.
I have suffered from depression on and off for most of my life. It is a disease of the function of the neurotransmitters of the brain. Period. Unfortunately, the love of family and friends can’t penetrate into the cancer which is depression. C.S. Lewis once wrote, “Depression isn’t a moral failing, it is an affliction.” Yes. AND we know now it is a medical disease -acute and/or chronic in nature.
I hope Rhonda and her daughter find the health in Heaven that eluded them on earth. And also I hope that their family and all who cared for them do not pick up any burdens of guilt that are not theirs to carry.

Lovely words that encapsulate it well.

Hard to believe a year has passed already. I bet it feels longer for her family, though. I often remember her.
