Dreams ~ Another 1977 Classic
12Friday 12 June, 2015 by Uncle Spike
Who remembers this one then? It’s an all-time classic from one of my favourite years, 1977, and by one of my favourite bands, Fleetwood Mac, on one of my all-time favourite albums, Rumours.
Sit back and enjoy the wonderful Stevie Nicks in this week’s entry into those Tunes I Love.

“Dreams”
Now here you go again, you say
You want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
It’s only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost, and what you had, and what you lostThunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Say women they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know, you’ll knowNow here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself, it’s only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and,
Have you any dreams you’d like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness,
Like a heartbeat, drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering, what you had,
And what you lost and what you had and what you lostThunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Say, women, they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll knowThunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Say, women, they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know
You’ll know, you will know, you’ll know

Hey Spike … I saw them in NZ in the 70s. Fantastic!

My older brother played this album non-stop when it was released. To counter that, I played one of their other albums “Then Play On” – it was dueling Fleetwood Mac in our house.

Who won?

He liked the later Mac more than I liked early Mac, so I guess he did. I would admit that Rumors and the self titled album from’77 are both classics.
