Fruit: late but worth it
11Thursday 11 June, 2015 by Uncle Spike
Winter was far colder than usual. It lasted longer, then spring was late, and so is summer. Basically, the weather has done a wobbly this year! The knock-on effect is that some fruit never happened (such as the green figs), whereas others are just late.
So, now it’s summer, but still relatively cool (30C, 86F). We even see clouds in the sky, and the occasional raindrops. Even more strange, we have spring fruit only just ripening…

Your winter has matched our very strange winter spring here. Still you fruit is looking good. Apricots…yummm. Mine all froze. I do have a few mulberries coming on, but I’m sure the birds will get them.

So, Mother Nature says, you have been making me sick (globally speaking). And now you get what I feel like giving you when / if I feel like giving it? Sigh.

Interesting weather…the apples, plums, pears and mulberries on my recent property which I have just recently sold after residing there for the last 16 years …my fellow neighbours and I noticed that the birds on our properties this year did not touch any of the fruit very strange..the apples, pears and mulberries were in abundance for the first year ever due to birds staying away from them….I wonder why ???

Weird… I did notice the chickens aren’t sat in the Mulberry trees this year…. but different chooks perhaps be the reason 🙂

Seems we had similar issues here in the northeast and southeast of us. NYC their mulberries are ripen only first week of july. Not sure what will be.
