Seem a long nine or so years since we first moved village, and took on the land that later became the farm and our home. Those were the days when we had to tame the land, establish borders, put in a roadway and all sorts of exciting stuff like that.

The first task was to do some good old tree removal in order to make some form of vehicular access – I forget these things sometimes when I drive up and down the 100 or so metre track from the house to the gate each day. Come to think of it, I still have a couple of these roots stumps somewhere!

Most have long since gone into the wood burner, and no matter how careful I was at cleaning the stumps up, I think at least two chainsaw blade-chains were demolished on hidden rocks within the stump that had simply been grown ‘around’ over many years.

Then it was the job of bringing water in, up to the area where the house is now situated. Of course, that was easier said than done; a fact I am still keenly aware of even today. Good memories to look back on, even if relatively recent.
