The large and the small

Thursday 16 April, 2015 by Uncle Spike

One of my favourite images I have captured over the years has been of a very young tortoise found wandering in the orchard. Now, to find tortoises roaming wild here in southwest Türkiye is a daily occurrence from March through until around early November, but this was the cutest…

And then there is the other extreme. This is one we found two days ago when doing some of the weeding; and he was a heavy old brute too.

  1. Aww the little turtle is so cute. And I love the picture of the big turtle is cute too. I donated to a local turtle rescue as here they are often injured or killed by cars. I love all animals.

Looks like he was helping you weed, still one in his mouth. You have some cute wild life, there Uncle Spike.

How wonderful to have wild tortoises and I just love that baby. I always had a tortoise as a pet when I was a child and I remember having to put them into hibernation for the winter. I am not sure they always woke up though. I don’t think they are so common these days.
