Bee photography

Thursday 16 April, 2015 by Uncle Spike

Like most farms and gardens, the annual chores are pretty much same old, year in year out, so trying to find new and interesting things to photograph is turning out to become a hobby all of its own.

As promised to Julie from Frog Pond farm in New Zealand, I wanted to try out some snaps of our few hundred thousand bees that take over the orchards from March to June. So here goes with my first real attempt….  I didn’t have the tripod, so these are point n shoots, but any advice on angles and how best to snap these buzzy little visitors would be most welcomed 🙂

  1. Hey Spike .. thank you! I think you have done a brilliant job. They aren’t the easiest things to shoot .. flitting from one flower to another. I don’t use a tripod either. Never organised enough! 😀

I think you did a great job. They are very hard to capture. I think our Sour Cherries froze last night.

  5. Brilliant shots, I can only imaging the patience that you might have had to wait for them to come.
