Chimpanzee Rescue

I love chimps, in fact that statement applies to all such hairy relatives of our species. I’ve told it’s probably got something to do with how closely related I am to them, according to one ex-girlfriend, that is…

When travelling in East Africa, we came across a Chimp Rescue Centre in a private reserve in northern Kenya called Sweetwaters Game Reserve. These guys were well cared for I think you can tell. There were no sickening sights of animals in cages, or them pacing endlessly up and down in concrete areas in front of wire fences.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch them play, sit, climb, run, socialise and well, just be chimps in their natural, albeit protected, natural environment.
.
.
There were large areas of trees, water, and grassland for them to live out a happy communal life… Every tree you looked at had a primate hanging from a branch. I was a tad jealous if truth be known, having always been a bit of a tree dweller myself 🙂

Glad to see all these our ‘old’ relatives looking so contented and well!
