Flower Friday – Lemon Tree
11Friday 20 February, 2015 by Uncle Spike
With a normally quite short and mild winter, some of our fruit trees get a bit confused, with new flowers appearing before the current crop was harvested!
.
.
Of course, this was BEFORE the big storms and the freeze that devastated the lemon trees 😦
.
I love the smell of citrus blooms…all kinds!

I was really happy when I saw this post thinking that your trees were starting to recover from their frost-bite …. until I read the last line 😦

The lemon trees are mostly bare wood now – some may die, or at best, take 2 years to recover. We’ll see 🙂

Unfortunately not… the recent ice-age storm may have stopped even next years crop for some lemon trees 😦

How weird. Is the one with the blossom very sheltered or did you protect it?

Taken just before the storm 😦
