Images of Scotland

After the earlier post from Scotland seemed so popular, I got to digging through my box of old prints once more for a few more yesteryear snaps of that bonnie land…
.
Water features BIG in my travels, always has…. I love beaches, coastlines, lakes and lochs. For me, there is something instinctual about staying close to water. I have lived in landlocked areas before, but even then, always escape to the coast, or to water anyway, whenever I got the chance. Seems that my travelling life is no different…

Bagpipers are renowned the world over, even in New York (?), but there can be no cooler and more quaint image of Scotland, than to come across a Scotsman, in full traditional regalia, playing his pipes, right in the heart of Scotland.

With so much rainfall, Scotland is wonderfully green all year round. Obviously it varies from place to place, but I read once that the Western Highlands have rainfall on over 250 days a year, with a total of over 3000mm, or 118″.

.
And to finish off, I found a few more classic shots of lochs and mountains that I have visited around Scotland. Most of these were taken in the early to mid 90s.

Nice photos and I’m hoping to get to take some Scotland photos myself within the next year. 🙂

Nice to see a bite of Scotland. As to the rain (I come from a village in Perthshire, close to the Trossachs), when you live in a cottage on a hillside miles from the nearest village you get enough of it. But when the sun even partially comes out, my word!

Scotland in the sun is absolutely unbeatable…. if you happen to be visiting that particular Tuesday 🙂 (sounds similar to my 10 years in Yorkshire I suspect)

I love the pics, they fill me with warm memories. I looked at that kilt for quite a while! Now I’m wondering about kilts and the Scottish midge!

Fab pics – my favourite is the bagpiper and last one! I have YET to get to Scotland which is ironic as part of my heritage hails from that land. Thanks for sharing images from your memory lane!
