New Year’s Eve… then it’s 2015
32Wednesday 31 December, 2014 by Uncle Spike
So today sees the last remnants of the year 2014. Hmm, that flew by mighty quickly I have to say! Having already looked back at my year, and shared the year-end stats thingy, that just leaves me to consider today, and then look ahead to the new year…
New Year’s Eve
We are smack in the middle of a week long storm right now, so the annual bonfire in the farmyard is gonna have to wait for the next dry weekend – sorry kiddo. So it’ll be an indoors event on a very ungrand scale tonight. Cousin Spike Jnr is at school all day today anyway, and Aunty Spike will be coming home later on after twelve very busy days away (bar one brief fleeting visit), so I can’t see us rockin’ the world somehow, can you?
I reckon it’ll be a quiet family affair before kiddo goes to bed (usually 8:30-9:00pm). The wood-burner will be keeping our toes nice and warm as the thunder, lightening and howling gale does its best to blow in the New Year. The power will probably be on/off most of the night again, as is par for winters here, so midnight may well pass by candlelight and the back-up LED emergency lights on the stairs. Other than that, we’ll no doubt share some decent food and maybe even some party-poppers – oh and chestnuts roasted on top of the wood-burner of course 🙂
Resolutions?
For once, I’ve not got any New Year’s Resolutions in mind for twenty-fifteen; just more of the same I guess. I regained my fitness big-time this past six months, so for starters I intend to keep that up, or at a level playing field at least. Everything else is ‘ok’, so whilst it’ll be a grind from start to finish, with a rural life that could never be considered easy, there is, for once, no real need to focus on changing anything.
So does that means I’m just happy and content, or have I drifted aimlessly into middle-age, where all sense of ambition has dissapated?? Yeah right, as if… I fully intend to tackle life head on, to try to improve my skills at being a dad, to be a more attentive hubz, and to look after my physical self and stretch my mental capacity as much as I can.
Oh, and a spot of blogging in my spare time. Bring it on !!

All the best for 2015! 🙂 🙂

Thanks Rosie… we are probably cheating a bit, having a stove like that compared to the winters you guys endure, but hey, we have to try and enjoy our very short damp winter time too 🙂
Happy New Year from Clan Spike.
