Anyone remember this giant of a man?
This was the late and very great Israel “Iz” Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole, who brought his own beautiful style of music to the world from 1976 until his passing in 1997 at the age of 38.
Many times over the years have I listened to his dulcet tones, especially in times of grief – I just find his voice so incredibly calming.
One of the most poignant moments for me in this video is the cheering of the crowds when his ashes are poured into the ocean. Funerals and memorial services should be just that; a celebration of their life.
I hope you enjoy this flashback 🙂
