Wishing For Peace

Tuesday 11 November, 2014 by Uncle Spike

Veteran’s Day, Remembrance Day, and the anniversary of Atatürk’s passing…. there are many reasons this week why most of us think about the millions of fellow countrymen and women, close family, distant relatives, loved ones and strangers who all gave their lives so that we may live in PEACE.
What I find hard to swallow is that, whilst so many lives are taken, we still do not seem to be able to live in PEACE.
With civil war raging so close to home, it makes one think of the inane stupidity of it all, and that just saddens me to be honest.
I know it’ll never happen, but my wish for today, for every day is just PEACE.

  5. Walking on the hills in Somerset England this morning, we passed through a little village with a beautiful war memorial. It was kept looking lovely with fresh flowers as well as poppies. It was here that we paid our 2 minuets silence in respect of all those who gave their lives so that we could roam these hills in safety.I pray God’s blessing on all those who strive to keep it that way.

Hopefully, one by one, we may be able to change the world. Friendship across oceans, borders, religions, slowly melting bigotry and intolerance. May you be blessed with a little more peace each day.
