91 today…. (part one)
6Wednesday 29 October, 2014 by Uncle Spike
The Republic of Türkiye is 91 today, and across the country there are celebrations led by schools, and huge flags hanging from many buildings.
.
.
Due to internal politics, it is a much more subdued affair these days, but even still, celebrations were held today for the local schools, with the mayor, chiefs of local armed forces, police and the town governor.

.
These young ladies patriotically wore shirts bearing the signature of Atatürk, our nations founder.

.
These are all shots taken this morning, just to share with you what’s happening here today.
.

.
In addition to the military significance of the founding of the Republic, there are also many traditional costumes and dancing to be seen.
.

.
Hope you enjoy this glimpse at life here in Turkey.

Part two has since been published too…

Interested in other scenes like this, here’s my posts from last year:

I love the picture of the young boy in great hat full of what I’m assuming are coloured stars!
Happy Birthday Turkey! Enjoy your celebrations 🙂
