Gotcha Mister moon!
9Saturday 18 October, 2014 by Uncle Spike
After numerous attempts over the past year or so I had failed miserably to capture any half decent moon-shots (apart from those displayed by Uncle Baldrick upon his annual visitation to the farm; but that’s a whole other story).
On the eve of the recent full moon (or thereabouts), I tried again, tweaking some settings and hey-presto, the glowing white blob I normally manage to capture has at last been superseded by something more akin to what I had been aiming for.
Here are two slightly different shots that I wanted to share…. Happy Spike at last

Beautiful shot! I would be immensely proud of those two!!

Photographically speaking the moon has been vexing me for quite some time too. Care to share your settings Uncle Spike?

I tried to think where a moon would be so large and so close at this time of the year, then I re- read where you live,, makes sense to me now! Great Picture! I’m still trying to figure out how not to get just a blob of light!!

Being a very technical semi-pro photographer (not)… after 4 years I found the ‘Night (Tripod)’ setting on my pretty basic camera. It takes a much longer exposure than the usual ‘night’ setting, so I rested the camera on the balcony railings and held my breath for 30 seconds (lol). Apart from that, not a clue 😀
