Time for another “Tunes I Love”

Groningen, The Netherlands… that’s where my love of Tangerine Dream started, back in the mid ’80s.

Following travels in Greece, much of which was spent rough camping on various islands, I had found myself travelling in Northern Europe, and The Netherlands in particular. I also happened to spent quite a long time in the northern university city of Groningen with a talented photographer who I’d met on the island of Folegandros. This is a foto of us both back then. For the full story from that island adventure, click the photograph, or read on for the music bit you were expecting to find…

Such a nice shot of the tiger! Not like the tired and numb ones you can see in the zoo…

Oh wow! Takes me back! I used to listen to them in the 80s…. Cyclone, Phaedra and stuff like that! Years later, when I first had an MRI scan (head) I remarked to someone that the noise was like a bad Tangerine Dream concert – of course, they had no idea what I was talking about!

Oh man, that is a blast from the past! Love their music. I remember they did the soundtrack for the film The Big Blue. Wow, that takes me back.
