My Penny Lane

Today’s offering from my look at ‘Tunes I Love’ is the incomparable 1967 Double-A side vinyl track from The Beatles, “Penny Lane”…

Released along with “Strawberry Fields Forever” when I was but a mere rug-rat, this song is synonymous with more than one era of my childhood. I’ve never been one to religiously follow any particular band, or genre of music for that matter – as you’ll start to appreciate as I get round to more of these posts from ‘Tunes I Love’. Personally I select my music based on a simple ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ factor, rarely know the names of the band or song, just that certain music ‘clicks’ with me I suppose.

I remember the tune of Penny Lane from my school days initially, and then later on, from my teens when I dated a lovely filly by the name of Penny. I had met her on a cycling holiday, but she lived ever such a long distance from me, so inevitably the romance fizzled out. But whenever I hear ‘Penny Lane’, it takes me back 🙂

I hope you enjoy 🙂

  1. A lovely song. Besides when a lovely song is associated with special memories, it becomes a treasure. Thanks for the ride on memory lane.

  2. Love those two songs and love the Beatles! I was always partial to George. My parents always referred to them as those long-haired hippies! I was a young teen when they first arrived in the U.S. and I’ve been hooked ever since! LOL! 😀

my goodness. That’s 3 for 3. All your favorite tunes have been sung-along with the radio or LP player or walkman or disc man by me. 😦 Makes me feel old.
