1 Year ~ This & That

Uncle Spike’s Adventures in Numbers !!

In this last year, the biggest surprise I would say has been the popularity of the blog. Whilst it hasn’t exactly gone viral, attracted hordes of wanton groupies or been chased down by renowned or even dubious commercially interested parties, it has legitimately achieved what I had intended at the outset; to create a blog that would become a mildly popular with a regular, consistent, genuine base of followers from all walks of life across the globe.

Posts

Whilst it was very much a soft launch until I found my feet, so to speak, the total number of posts I have published, including this one, is 763. Needless to say, the Weekly Photo Challenge posts dominate the field, but other heavily posted categories include; Travel in Türkiye, Cousin Spike Jnr, Flower Friday, and Farmer Spike.

Page hits…

This has been an interesting one to watch. It has had its ups and downs, varying from a few hundred a month last summer, to a steady 20-23,000 a month throughout this year. Events such as Christmas I noticed can make almost the entire readership disappear in a puff of smoke, but apart from a few times like that, I’m seeing see a regular pattern that inspires me to carry on doing what I do 🙂

Which countries…

Always a fascinating subject to me, a travel junkie, as to where in the world the hits are coming from. In total, this blog has been viewed in 124 countries.

Originally I had expected the majority of views to be from here in Turkey, or the UK which is where I lived before emigrating. However, the US of A really has dominated the map, with almost 40% of page hits originating there.

  • Top 10/123: USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Turkey, India, Germany, Malaysia, Norway, and Sweden.
  • Bottom 10/123: Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Algeria, Myanmar, Bahrain, Gibraltar, Mongolia, Paraguay, and Aruba.

Spike, most of what I know about contemporary Turkey comes from your blog. I was surprised to learn that our crops and seasons in California are quite similar, and its agricultural bent is basic and grounded. All terribly interesting with a clever and humorous flavor, all good news for a world that needs it. Thank you and congratulations for what you’ve created and accomplished. 🙂
