Wooden Jetty

Monday 16 June, 2014 by Uncle Spike

A few weeks ago we went to Fethiye, and spent a day lazing on the beach. It was pretty darned quiet, with the official season hardly started and most Türks refusing to go near the water as the air temperature was only 30 Celsius, or 86 Fahrenheit, which is considered far too cold for swimming weather over here 🙂

At one end of the beach, there was a wooden jetty. Now years ago, back in my youth, I would have loved that; running and jumping in to the water over and over again. For a few decades after that, I would have probably ignored it, or sat on the end dangling my tootsies into the warm Mediterranean water.

But now I’m an old fart with a blog… so what do I do, of course, go grab the camera and start pretending I know what I’m doing for any curious onlookers.

And this was from where I took the image in this week’s Guess What? blog post.

It was correctly guessed pretty quickly, and we have 2 or 3 winners in fact. First, there was Helen who said “Is it a knot hole in a piece of wood?”, then there was Colleen who suggested “Is it some form of water through the hole in wood”, and an hour later there was Lizzie who asked if it was “a knot hole in bridge over water?”, and finally, there was Kasih with “hole in tree trunk over water? 🙂 “!!!

WELL DONE LADIES

  1. […] This week’s second entry from me for the Weekly Photo Challenge is a capture of a knot hole in a plank of wood on an old jetty. İt has depth by showing the thickness of the wood, but also depth in that we can see the water below the jetty – this link shows the whole structure if you are interested. […]

In spite of my years, I’m still the type of person who would run down that jetty and leap into the water with wild abandon. I fear I shall never grow up 🙂
