A Door To Nowhere

You know how it is, some jobs stay firmly sat ‘on a to-do list’ for eternity and beyond. Well, no more. One of my long outstanding jobs has finally been ticked off 🙂

With two-thirds of the year with baking sun, and the other third stormy and very wet, the ADSL connection is always problematic. We receive our internet over the phone line, so require a ‘splitter’ to separate the phone and modem lines. But this little box of tricks is often the cause of headaches, with it getting wet, or suffering from condensation.

Most of the time I keep the splitter wrapped in a plastic bag, but that makes it sweat, and the connection box is just a 10cm (4″) square recess covered with a plastic plate, so that doesn’t help either.

A problem finally solved (we hope). We now no longer need to keep the splitter box all wrapped up, and no longer need to be concerned about it getting wet, or damp. It now lives in a ventilated house of it’s own, behind a sexy new door 😀

A few offcuts from the garage door and workbench making adventures were put to good use at last. Out came the welding and cutting tools and hey presto…

Ingenious! We also have problems with our internet connections during the wet season. I’ll show this to O.
