Spot Of The Wet Stuff
6Tuesday 29 April, 2014 by Uncle Spike
April in south west Turkey is, like most places in the Northern Hemisphere, a period of seasonal change. Our combined autumn-winter-spring (or non-summer) season lasts from mid December through to the end of April. After that we jump right back into summer.
.
We have an extraordinary amount of rain here, generally dumped from upon high in vast sudden electrical storms. I guess that’s part and parcel of living in the foothills of a mountain range just inland from the eastern Mediterranean coastline.
Usually the last of the rains pass by May 10th, so we are now into the tail end, with deluges every 10-15 days. Maybe we’ll have 1 or 2 more, who knows. It’s sunny, clear blue skies and around 30 this week (or 86 in old money), but this was a couple of days ago, when we had a spot of the wet stuff for an hour.

Veggies love the fresh water, but perhaps not this much!
.
Good to see the water channels work.

.
And then it suddenly stopped, but mist hung around the hills for half an hour…
.
And then the blue skies retuned once again 🙂

I love seeing what seasons look like in different parts of the world! I can’t get over how much rain is downpouring in those pictures. I hope your season dries up soon, and you have delicious vegetables to enjoy!

But May is a good month where you are (wherever that is – Dalaman area?)?

Still April though… rains come and go right through to May 10th generally, and then stop until September 20th 🙂
