Macro Monday: “Callistemon”
12Monday 17 February, 2014 by Uncle Spike
My posting for Macro Monday.
This is an opening bud from a Callistemon, or Bottle Brush shrub. Such a pretty plant that flowers for much of the year. I have included a couple of shots just to give you some perspecvtive.
Again, I would be interested in some crtique from you ‘proper photographers’ – thank you!
Hope you all like it !

More light – less close. That would be my advice. 😀

Thanks Jackie. I was trying to get extra close in terms of ‘macro’, but with my ordinary camera I guess the light is gonna suffer – true. Perhaps attempting earlier in the day may be another solution to make use of the the available light.

Comment not from a proper photographer: I am fascinated with those bridges in the bottom photo. Are they for the chickens to cross to the other side? And do you ever ask them why they cross the bridge….. er the road?

Hehe… I dug that trench 5 years ago and clear it every autumn. There is no sewerage out here, so all the house gutters just pour on to the land. I dug 3 of these channels as we have serious rain here with a very high volume in short storm bursts. When the rain hits, these trenches fill in minutes and carry all the water off the land into a big storm trench that runs along side the farm.
As for the bridges, they are intended for us hoomans, and for wheelbarrow usage, but of course the chooks also make use of them 🙂

That’s a seriously interesting answer as to how and why a chicken comes to cross a bridge at your farm Thanks Spike 🙂
