Black n White Spike

Friday 24 January, 2014 by Uncle Spike

I got asked this week…. “Hey Spike, you ever do much Black & White photography?” Well, rarely I’ll admit. But does it count that I starred in a few, coz, well, I’m old enough to remember when ‘colour’ wasn’t an option (ouch).

I checked out my file today and found these four shots from the mid 60’s to mid 70’s (I have very few kiddie time images). You may have seen them before, as I have used them in posts previously a while back – hence I have added links for newer followers…

The first depicts the era when I acquired by first ‘wheels’, my Perambulator 2000. From my expression, looks like I had spotted ‘food’, or probably more like a young filly…  See my simple post, Baby Spike to Uncle Spike.

My first ‘backpacking’ days, 🙂

In this next shot, my wheels had certainly progressed, even if my driving skills hadn’t. Read the full story here…

SPIKE D

And in this last one, I’m the dude right at the back in what was my inaugural concert of my musical career. Actually it was also my last as this tale explains…

So based on the above… you can see why I steer clear of black & whites!

i am old school, b/w in elementary, high school, and college [1990], for me i prefer b/w film, 35mm. with the digital cameras, i have not developed the eye for capturing the photo i want. for me, there is a shutter lag, by the time one presses the shutter button to the time the camera captures the photo, are seconds. thanks for sharing. thanks for sharing your photo.
