Chainsaw Chores

Tuesday 07 January, 2014 by Uncle Spike

It’s mid winter, the Clementine crop is almost all picked and, dare I say it, we look forward to spring – even though ‘cold’ here means perhaps 10c (50F). Farm chores ramp up very soon, with tree clipping, goat poo spreading time, leaf spraying and ploughing to name but a few… but right now it’s that ‘in-between’ bit where the chores list gets a few crossings-off.

This week saw the return of my lethal weapons collection. Chainsaw, bow-saw, machete, secateurs, 9m (29′) ladders and long nylon ropes. And before you all start adding witty comments about potential Spikey fetishes… nothing so exciting to report I’m afraid.

Tree trimming was the order this past week. Lots of noise, over-stretched joints, balancing high up in trees.

A few cuts, bruises and changes of underwear later, and we now have stacks more firewood, a years worth of kindling, and no lasting injuries 😀
