  14. Again I come to comment. I’ve been thinking about these boys. They probably don’t even have the basics, yet they know JOY. How about that? Wow!

    • The thing is, those boys probably think they do have the basics, as it’s all relative. The more developed countries (if you can call them developed) have raised the bar higher re what they consider the basics and have forgotten about simple enjoyment.

      • You are absolutely right. These boys and their families have it “right”. The overindulgence in the more developed countries is a tragedy at best. Do any of us in the developed countries even have a portion of unrestrained JOY as these boys know? (sigh)

          This was the primary reason I left the west and immigrated here to Asia. Raising a family here is fine, but not something I would have even considered back in the UK.

        Spot on. In fact, the kids in that part of Kenya are not destitute but yes, without all the trappings of western consumerism they are infinitely richer.
