Winter Road Trips

19

Tuesday 17 December, 2013 by Uncle Spike

When it comes to farming in winter here in southern Turkey, there is always plenty to do, from olive harvesting, citrus fruit picking and general winter chores that are pretty well impractical during our long hot summers. The links are to related posts if you want to see fotos about these aspects of winter life.

But all work and no play would make me a very dull chap – even more than my natural disposition! So we always try and grab a few days away with a couple of short road trips.

And guess what, there are almost no tourists about, so we get to wander around places such as Heiropolis, Aphrodisias and Efes (Ephesus as you may know it) virtually on our own, and walk the beautiful beaches in solitude, devoid of overweight pink bodies trying to massacre a thousand sun loungers.

These fotos are from some trips we have made during recent winters. Hopefully I’ll have more to add after this year too  🙂

A very beautiful set of pictures, especially the one entitled “Clouds & Calm Waters”. A very interesting picture with the cloud reflection showing in the water.

Clouds and Calm Water my favorite. Funny how the natural parts of Turkey (Mountains, trees, lakes) look almost like any other country. We should get rid of all borders.
