Can We Have Our TURKEY Tag Back Please?
20Sunday 01 December, 2013 by Uncle Spike
Like most folk, I like to view posts about my home country. In New Zealand, you look under the ‘tag’ New Zealand, in Singapore, likewise… BUT here in Turkey we can either search under ‘Türkiye’ for domestic posts, or for anyone travelling here, we would tend to look under the tag of ‘Turkey’.
However, over the past 2 months (first Canada then the USA), it has taken me ages to find posts about our country… instead all I came across was pictures of the bird Turkey, a plate of food or a flippin’ pumpkin! Granted, most bloggers chose to use the tag Thanksgiving – and thank you for that 🙂 but others just went for the Turkey option.
Please, please, please… can we have our tag back now please?
Rant over
Çok teşekkür ederim – Thank you very much
P.S. I also happen to be a big fan of Thanksgiving
– this was just my attempt at cynical comedy 🙂

Excellent rant / fun comment section 🙂

Hi Uncle S, I have nominated you for a Sunshine Award! Have a look at my blog to see how to accept it. If you don’t want it, no worries. You are still a ray of sunshine!

Aww how nice, thanks very much… may I refer you to my ‘Awards’ page?

Okay. Read it now. I scrolled down the sidebars of blogs. I hadn’t seen the awards heading on your blog. And you’re welcome!

Then you may go to the top of The Spikey’s class 🙂
So yes, correct tag usage, granted.
Looking at the image, I think it was from the terrorist attack at Reyhanlı, Hatay Province in May when 51 died (officially) and 140 severely injured, although fatalities reported by some agencies said 177 dead (accurate figures are not easily come by for us). A very sad day as I recall 😦

Yes, very sad – I didn’t realize that’s what the image could have been. Thank you for letting me know that.

Do the people in Turkey have Roast England with all the trimmings on Xmas Day? Hmmmmmm

Ah, but we dont have Xmas Day… simple solution.
Reminds me of my old neighbour in Yorkshire, a semi-hermit who had never left the small village in 70 years. When I first came to Turkey in the mid 90’s his only comment was “So what do hey eat at Christmas?” lol
