Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie
18Saturday 02 November, 2013 by Uncle Spike
For the Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie, I have selected this image which was taken during a visit to Aspendos, near Manavgat, Turkey.
It was late afternoon and not a soul in sight at what can often be a busy place, as a prime tourist sight in that region. It was, to say the least, all a bit eerie…

Eeerie, indeed. We’ve got many castles in France. The renowned ones are of course in great shape. Some, way less known, are in different kind of states. A few, which remained within the families, are almost in ruins (like yours) because even though you ‘own’ a castle doesn’t mean you can afford the cost of one.
In any case, I wish you luck for the challenge.

These medieval ramparts are magnificent. However, they are also creepy in that one can imagine spirits trailing along as one tours their former habitat.

We are some 14 hours south of Istanbul, not close.
And this is the site where I took that image… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspendos so I guess this is more Roman
