Eek – Clouds!

“Turned Out Nice Again”
That is my handle, my repetitive daily motto if you like and something that I spout pretty well daily for much of the year – such is the predictability of the weather here.
Almost without exception, we pretty well know that from mid-May (about the 10th) through to late September (about 20th or later), that the sun will shine up there in a cloudless sky, and the temperature will range between hot (32) and very hot (47).
I’m sorry, but as a naturalised rather than a native Turk, when it comes to matters of all things meteorological, my memory bank still refers me back to decades of engrained memories that featured endless rainy days; or just overcast greyness as the order of the day.
Much to the dismay of my patient wife, I seem to be afflicted with making this compulsory statement. Guilty as charged.
But WTF… today we spotted a cloud. Just one mind you, but all the same, it was a significant event. I guess summer is drawing to a close… but still 36-40 every day, so perhaps we won’t be skiing quite just yet, not this week anyhow. No need to dig out the winter woollies just yet I suppose.
I take weather, whatever, for granted. My other ‘alf ALWAYS comments. Sound familiar?

It rarely rains in Turkey?

Oh it does, believe me – we just have predictable weather patterns.
No rain (maybe one downpour) between 10 May – 20 Sept. Then a mix of massive thunderstorms and bright sunshine for the rest of the year 🙂

It has been an unusually good summer in the UK this year – makes a change!
When I was in Turkey in May – shock, horror, it rained!
Enjoy your sunshine for as long as it lasts…
