Can’t Change; Won’t Change!
Well that is rarely heard as a self-descriptive term, but I’m sure we have all used it to describe someone or other over the years!
Sometimes in life, you come across situations, often when dealing with business or interpersonal relationships, where your adversary is just so obstinate and intractable, that no matter how hard you try, you just know full well ‘You ain’t gonna win’.
Now, there are many sayings that we all use to describe these idiots, these pieces of flotsam that drift in and out of our lives; you know, some favourite adage or other that always springs to mind…
Well, on that note, a friend of mine is having a hard time right now, dealing with the dying embers of a marriage to a pretty much useless significant other. Trouble is, he just doesn’t get it – talk about a case of ‘Can’t change; won’t change’.
Anyway, friends have been rallying round, throwing in all sorts of advice, especially since hearing that the guy in question is now acting out that age-old routine, that of stomping around like Mr Nasty, followed by Mr Cry-Baby – the emotional blackmail syndrome. So, I stumbled across this little descriptive snippet; a comment left by another of her friends. It sums it up incontrovertibly, so much so, that I thought I’d share this one with you today.
Note: apologies for the language that follows.
